Torah Thoughts - "Get It Out Of Your Head"
Last summer, I attended a seminar on organization. One of the leader's rules was, "Get it out of your head!" He meant that if you have an assignment to complete, don't think too much about it. Whether it's a phone call to make or a paper to write, it will probably seem more and more difficult the longer you put it off.
I try to keep the trainer's advice in mind, because I feel overwhelmed when work piles up. Instead of being anxious, I write down my tasks and methodically do each one. Even if it's something I don't want to do, I know I must or it will loom large in my mind.
As I wrote last Friday, the weeks before Rosh Hashanah are a time for introspection. I hope getting things out of your head will help you today and throughout the new year. The great sage Hillel offered similar advice when he said, "If not now, when?" (Pirkei Avot 1:14)
