Social Action Tikkun Olam

Social Action Comittee

The Social Action Committee addresses various needs of our community.

Under the heading of Tikun Olam (repairing the world),we endeavor to lend a hand to help our synagogue family and our neighbors enjoy a better life by sharing our resources, our expertise, and ourselves.

SHARING OUR BOUNTY

Corners of Our Fields:
Our yearly Kol Nidre food drive generously supplies our local food bank.

Food Collection Site:
Receptacle is located in the Temple lobby and maintained throughout the year. Updates on urgently needed donations are listed in The Shofar.

Community Garden:
“Gan Tikvah” is a cooperative project between Temple Beth Ahm, Temple Shalom and the Matawan United Methodist Church, growing and providing fresh produce to the food pantry clients of our community.

BRIDGING THE GENERATIONS
Helping residents of a local nursing home to celebrate the Jewish festivals by providing companionship and traditional holiday foods and symbols at Rosh Hashonah, Sukkot, Chanukah and Purim.

Lap robes handmade by congregants and presented to the residents as gifts also provide warmth and comfort.
