Social Action Committee

The Social Action Committee addresses various needs of our community.

Under the heading of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world), we endeavor to lend a hand to help our synagogue family and our neighbors enjoy a better life by sharing our resources, our expertise, and ourselves.

SHARING OUR BOUNTY

Corners of Our Fields:
Our yearly Kol Nidre food drive generously supports our local food pantry.

Food Collection Site:
Receptacle is located in the synagogue lobby  and maintained throughout the year. Updates on urgently needed donations are listed in The Shofar monthly newsletter.

Community Garden:
“Gan Tikvah” is a collaborative project involving Temple Beth Ahm, Temple Shalom and the Matawan United Methodist Church. Our garden group grows and provides fresh organic produce to the food pantry clients of our community.

BRIDGING THE GENERATIONS
Helping residents of a local nursing home to celebrate the Jewish festivals by providing companionship and traditional holiday foods and symbols at Rosh Hashonah, Sukkot, Chanukah and Purim.
