It is customary for each person over the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah to have their own lulav set. However, this can be expensive. Sharing is permitted, but on the first day of Sukkot, you must give the set to the other person, and if they are nice they should give it back--Loaning on day one is not permitted, but during the rest of the holiday it is!
